Nail Wars! Festival tips vs easy-peasy tattoos – plus, your chance to win a Nail Art kit!

We’re all about rock-chick looks this week, with colourful Solange-esque tips and hard-as-nails tatts. Plus, we’ve got 10 Nail Art Nail kits to give away, including one set of tattoos and two bottles of lush polish. Don’t say we’re not good to you!

We’re crushing on Jen’s gorgeous talons. Here’s how she did ‘em: “With all the festivals taking place this summer, I’ve been inspired to go a little rock chick with my nails – and this tattoo design was just the ticket. First, I painted my talons with two coats of Revlon Nail Enamel in Graceful. When this was dry, I used Nail Art Nail Tattoos, available from Boots, which are just little stickers that are super easy to apply. I used a different design on each nail, and with 60 stickers in each pack, there’s loads of variations you could try. When you’re happy with your design, a slick of topcoat will stop them from chipping or peeling off.”

I’ve been going on and on about going to Latitude festival for weeks now, and the weekend has finally come! To get into the colourful festival spirit, I thought: “What would Solange Knowles do?”. I reckon she’d love this “storecupboard” nail design, which uses up any lingering bits of nail varnish at the bottom of the bottle to give a super-bright look. I painted the base colour in my current favourite shade, Nails Inc Nail Varnish in Royal Botanical Gardens. When it was dry, I blocked out the majority of the nail with slanted masking tape, and painted a corner in any bright colour I could get my hands on, including neon purple, bright cherry red, glittery red and gold.
